My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The speaker presents heavy drinking as advice, replacing the usual expectation of sensible guidance with a recommendation of excess. The blunt wording can make the suggestion sound darkly comic. It offers intoxication as an answer while saying nothing about the difficulty that prompted the advice.
