Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

Tai says the thing Cher cannot hear from anyone else, and it lands because it is partly true. It is the film's turning point: Cher, who runs everyone's life, finds her own life is a mess. Fans quote it as the ultimate burn from the only friend who dares.
