I went to rock and roll heaven, and I wasn’t on the guest list.

Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
A bitter-funny way to describe being shut out. Rock and roll heaven is pictured as an exclusive party with a door list, and the speaker arrived to find their name missing. It blends reverence for music with the sting of not belonging.
