Buzz, your girlfriend. Woof.
— Home Alone · 1990
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
It is Kevin's whole relationship with his big brother in two words: years of being called names, and now the first chance to give some back, with no one there to pound him for it. The joke lands because a bully's private life turns out to be so ordinary. 'Woof' became a stock schoolyard insult and a staple of Home Alone quote lists every December.

On the morning the McCallisters fly to Paris without him, Kevin wakes to an empty Winnetka house and spends his first day of freedom rummaging through his older brother's things. In Buzz's room he opens the trunk of belongings and finds a framed photo of Buzz's girlfriend, a girl with braces and a wide-eyed smile. Kevin recoils, holds it up and delivers the verdict: "Buzz, your girlfriend. Woof." He drops the frame back, shattering the glass, then pockets Buzz's firecrackers and borrows his BB gun. The girl was played by the art director's son in a wig, a choice made so no real girl would be mocked.
