Uncle Frank

Fuller! Go easy on the Pepsi.

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

A throwaway line from an uncle who is mostly a grump, and it is funny because the audience already knows exactly what the Pepsi means for Kevin's night. It is the film's best bit of setup: a tiny warning that gets a laugh now and a bigger one in the silence afterwards. Fans quote it whenever someone reaches for a third fizzy drink late at night.

Spoilers for Home AloneShow the scene

On the last night before the family flies to Paris, the McCallister house is jammed with relatives and pizza. Buzz has eaten Kevin's plain cheese pizza on purpose, and Kevin watches his five-year-old cousin Fuller drink a can of Pepsi, knowing Fuller wets the bed and Kevin has to share the hide-a-bed with him. Uncle Frank, spotting Fuller gulping the soda, calls out the mild warning that becomes a running joke: "Fuller! Go easy on the Pepsi." Fuller grins at Kevin. Moments later the dinner erupts into a fight and Kevin is sent to the attic. Fuller was played by Macaulay Culkin's younger brother Kieran.
