Bobby Boucher

Captain Insano shows no mercy!

— The Waterboy ‧ 1998

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

It is the film's rule for Bobby's violence: he is gentle until an anger he has no words for finds a pro-wrestling script to follow. The joke is the deadpan solemnity of the stutterer quoting a cartoon wrestler as moral code. Fans shout it as a mock-menacing sign-off and it fits any time a mild person threatens a very small revenge.

Spoilers for The WaterboyShow the scene

In The Waterboy (1998), Coach Klein is sizing up Bobby Boucher, the water boy he has just watched flatten a teammate, and asks whether he follows any physical sport. Bobby says he watches wrestling, and when pressed names Captain Insano as his favourite, adding that the wrestler was slightly discourteous to him recently. Klein tells him to do to teammate Casey what Insano does to the bad guy, so Bobby gouges Casey's eyes. Casey complains, and Bobby explains his move with the line. Captain Insano is played by wrestler Paul 'The Big Show' Wight.
