Who cares about Derek Zoolander anyway? The man has only one look, for Christ's sake! Blue Steel? Ferrari? Le Tigre? They're the same face! Doesn't anyone notice this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

Mugatu is a villain whose evil plan is so enormous and whose grievance is so tiny that the rant makes the film: a man planning an assassination, furious that nobody has noticed the model's faces are identical. The "crazy pills" line escaped into ordinary speech as the standard complaint of anyone who is the only one seeing the obvious. Will Ferrell's escalating shout is half the reason it stuck.

Spoilers for ZoolanderShow the scene

In Zoolander (2001), fashion mogul Jacobim Mugatu has brainwashed model Derek Zoolander to assassinate the Prime Minister of Malaysia whenever he hears "Relax" at his runway show. At the climax the plan falls apart: Hansel switches off the DJ's turntable, and Derek's agent Maury Ballstein admits to the conspiracy. Mugatu turns on Ballstein, shouting that Derek has only one look and that Blue Steel, Ferrari and Le Tigre are the same face, and that he feels like he is taking crazy pills. He brags that he invented the piano key necktie, and says that if Derek cannot do the job, he will. Then he hurls a throwing star at the Prime Minister himself.
