There is some cooperation between wild creatures. The stork and the wolf usually work the same neighborhood.
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The stork and wolf are cast as neighbours doing related jobs. Calling that cooperation gives the pairing a sly edge, since the wolf hardly sounds like a friendly partner. The joke lets an apparently harmless observation about wildlife hint at less comfortable connections.
