Stewie Griffin

Damn you, vile woman!

— Family Guy · 1999

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

The line is a Victorian stage villain trapped in a nappy: the venom is real, the vocabulary is far too grand for a baby, and the target is the one person who stood between him and world domination. Fans quote it for any comic grudge against someone who has confiscated, cancelled or interrupted something, and it fixed Stewie's voice and attitude before the show had even found its feet.

Spoilers for Family GuyShow the scene

Also from the first episode, "Death Has a Shadow" (31 January 1999). At the Griffins' dinner table Lois takes Stewie's mind-control device away from him because she won't allow toys at the table, and he turns on her in his plummy, villainous English voice, cursing her and complaining that she has obstructed his work since the day he left the womb. Seth MacFarlane voices him. The line was later given to a robot Stewie decoy in "Bango Was His Name Oh",.
