I'm in love. His name is Jordan Catalano. He was let back, twice. Once I almost touched his shoulder in the middle of a pop quiz. He's always closing his eyes like it hurts to look at things.

Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The speaker announces love, then moves through sharply observed details about Jordan: repeated school years, an almost-touch during a quiz, and his habit of closing his eyes. The mixture makes the attraction feel intensely personal. Small encounters and mannerisms take on importance through the speaker’s attention.
