I'm Greed. I'm greedy, so I want money, women, status, fame, and everything else in this world!
— Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood ‧ 2009
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Greed turns the sin he is named after into a cheerful philosophy: he does not hide his wants, he lists them, and he is oddly honest about it. That candour is why the original Greed is a fan favourite over most of the villains. The line is the quick way to explain him, and people quote it as a joke about their own shopping lists.

In episode 13 of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, "Beasts of Dublith", Alphonse is lured to a hidden lair by the chimera henchmen Dolcetto, Roa and Martel and tied up before their boss. The boss introduces himself as Greed, shows an Ouroboros mark on his hand and has his head knocked off with a sledgehammer to prove he is a homunculus. He then questions Al about being a soul bound to armour, the nearest thing to immortality, and says he wants everything in the world, eternal life included. Edward soon storms in looking for his brother.
