What it means

Our interpretation.

The long-promised revelation arrives as laughter rather than conquest. Keeping the treasure unseen preserves the scene’s mystery while the crew’s reaction conveys its scale.

Oden’s diary describes Roger and his crew reaching the last island in chapter 967. On learning the story left there, Roger laughs, and the discovery leads him to name the island Laugh Tale. The card is Oden’s narration about Roger, not a spoken line by Roger; episode 968 renders the moment as “Roger was… laughing.”
