Northanger Abbey ‧ 1818
I consider a country-dance as an emblem of marriage. Fidelity and complaisance are the principle duties of both; and those men who do not choose to dance or to marry them selves, have no business with the partners or wives of the neighbors.

What it means
Our interpretation.
A country dance is compared to marriage through fidelity and willingness to accommodate a partner. The passage says that people who decline either arrangement should leave others' partners alone. Its spelling and spacing remain as archived.
