It's easy to forget what a sin is in the middle of a battlefield.

Behind the line
What it means

Snake observes how fighting can disturb a person's sense of right and wrong. The conditions of battle make terrible actions seem routine or necessary. The line asks how much moral awareness survives when violence becomes the environment in which every decision is made.
