A 1975 disco stage under a giant mirror ball: a figure in a gold lame catsuit stands centre stage with arms raised, flanked by dancers, a cheering crowd silhouetted against pink and gold spotlights.

Goldmember

Hey, everybody, I'm from Holland. Isn't that weird?

— Austin Powers in Goldmember  ·  2002

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

It is a catchphrase built on a non-joke: he announces his nationality as if it were a punchline, then asks for agreement. That flat delivery is the gag, and it turns a throwaway fact into something fans repeat when they want to be deliberately weird. The film leans on it, bringing it back for the finale, and the Dutch angle became the running tease of the character.
