Part of the journey is the end.

Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Tony accepts the ending he has been circling since Iron Man, and the line reads as a shrug and an epitaph at once. Said in a recording to a child who will hear it after he is gone, it carries the film's whole point: the journey was worth it, even the last part. The tagline it doubled as made it the line fans quote when something ends.

Avengers: Endgame (2019). The line belongs to Tony Stark's recorded message. Before attempting the time heist, Tony records a greeting for his daughter Morgan, in case he does not come back. He says the time travel plan has him scratching his head about whether it will work, then shrugs that it is the hero gig, and says part of the journey is the end. After Tony's death, the message plays at his funeral beside the lake near the family cabin, ending on his "I love you 3000." It was also one of the film's taglines.
