Our interpretation.
It is the Narrator admitting that the violence is not about principle: he picked on the pretty one because he could. That ugly honesty is why the line gets quoted, as a dark one-liner about the urge to wreck something just because it is nice, and it marks the moment the fight club stops being therapy. The film puts it in the mouth of a man who thinks he is only watching himself.

In Fight Club (1999), the Narrator's bouts are supposed to follow the club's rules. Yet he picks Angel Face, a blond newcomer whom Tyler favours, and beats him savagely, leaving him less beautiful. The Narrator, in voiceover, says he felt like putting a bullet between the eyes of every panda that would not mate to save its species, and Tyler asks where "psycho boy" went. The Narrator's answer is that he felt like destroying something beautiful. The film's words are "I felt like destroying something beautiful", not the site's wording.
