'Life is like a box of chocolates' is a deliberate simplification -- Winston Groom's novel actually opens 'being an idiot is no box of chocolates', which the 1994 film inverted into comfort. 'Run, Forrest, run!' and 'Stupid is as stupid does' completed a set of lines so pervasive that Tom Hanks initially worried the film was 'a minefield of quotable moments' with no story. It won Best Picture over Pulp Fiction and The Shawshank Redemption -- all three now share quote-page real estate.
