Napoleon Dynamite

Vote for Pedro.

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

It is the film's loyalty joke: Napoleon rarely says anything kind, so wearing his friend's name on his chest is the grand gesture. The slogan escaped the movie onto real T-shirts and works as an all-purpose way to back anyone with total confidence and no explanation.

Spoilers for Napoleon DynamiteShow the scene

In Napoleon Dynamite (2004), Pedro is a new student from Juarez, Mexico, who runs for class president at a high school in Preston, Idaho, against the snobbish Summer Wheatly. The slogan is chanted by students in the campaign scenes, and at the assembly Napoleon performs his dance routine in a shirt carrying it. Pedro wins the election. The film's success produced T-shirts and other merchandise with the slogan.
