Ricky Bobby

Dear Lord Baby Jesus, we thank you so much for this bountiful harvest of Domino's, KFC, and the always delicious Taco Bell.

— Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby • 2006

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

The grace is the film's whole attitude in a sentence: a sincere, heartfelt prayer of gratitude to a baby, for fast food. Ricky is not mocking religion; he thanks God for the things he loves, and the delivery is what makes it. The "Dear Lord baby Jesus" opening became one of the most quoted lines of the 2000s, and repeated at real dinner tables ever since.
