Honey? Where is my supersuit?

— The Incredibles • 2004

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

A line from the cast's coolest superhero, pitched like a husband hunting for his keys. It cuts a whole genre down to a domestic argument, and the exchange is a fan favourite that has outlived the film. The wife who refuses to hand over the suit gets as big a laugh as he does.

The scene cuts to the city, where a giant robot is smashing the financial district. At home, Lucius Best, once the hero Frozone, hears the news and cannot find his suit. He asks his wife where it is and she says she put it away. When he says he needs it and that the public is in danger, she answers that her evening is in danger, because they have been planning this dinner for two months. Samuel L. Jackson voices Frozone; Kimberly Adair Clark voices Honey.
