Withnail

I demand to have some booze.

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

Withnail turns a desire for a drink into a demand, as if wanting alcohol were enough to establish a claim on it. The wording leaves no room for a polite request. That insistence makes the size of his entitlement more striking than the thing he wants.
