When I wake up in the morning, I just can't get started until I've had that first, piping hot pot of coffee. Oh, I've tried other enemas...
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The speaker describes needing hot coffee to begin the morning, encouraging the familiar assumption that it will be drunk. The final reference to other enemas abruptly overturns that assumption. The joke works through a bodily surprise that makes the listener reinterpret the apparently ordinary opening.
