Bender, why are you spending so much time in the bathroom? Are you jacking on in there?
— Futurama · 1999
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
It is the catchphrase of the intervention scene, the show's gag on the parent who finds out about a habit: the polite, worried wording is the joke, because jacking on is treated like any other secret vice. Fans lift it as a joke about anyone who has been hiding in the bathroom a little too long, and it keeps the episode's drug parody alive without ever being cruel.

Spoilers for FuturamaShow the scene
In "Hell Is Other Robots" (Futurama, season 1, May 1999), Bender has become hooked on "jacking on", the dangerous abuse of electricity, and keeps vanishing into the Planet Express bathroom for long stretches. While Fry insists he would surely have noticed a problem, Leela goes to the restroom door, knocks, and asks why Bender is spending so much time in there, and whether he is jacking on. Bender shouts back from inside that she must not come in. Professor Farnsworth arrives with the next delivery, and Bender walks out as if nothing had happened.
