Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
It is Bender's whole personality in three words: a robot who treats every human as an enemy and every friendship as a secret. The running gag that he always muttered "except one" turns the threat into the nearest thing the show has to a love letter, which is why it works equally well on a T-shirt as a villain's slogan and as a gag about a soft heart.

Spoilers for FuturamaShow the scene
Bender, Planet Express's drinking, smoking, stealing robot, is prejudiced against anyone who is not a robot, and "Kill all humans" is one of his signature expressions, thrown out throughout the run. His "Do Not Kill" list holds only his best friend Fry and, later, Hermes. The phrase gets its sting in "The Sting" (season four, aired 1 June 2003, written by Patric M. Verrone), when Fry seems to have died. At the funeral Bender confesses that every time he said it, he whispered "except one," and Fry was that one.
