How many breads have you eaten in your life?
— JoJo's Bizarre Adventure · 2012
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Dio’s joke reveals how little a human life counts to him. The absurd phrasing has become a meme, but the answer itself is an expression of predatory indifference.

At Windknight’s Lot, Zeppeli challenges Dio about the people he has killed to sustain himself. Dio answers by comparing those lives to the bread Zeppeli has eaten. The scene appears in chapter 25 and episode 5; the card keeps the meme’s unidiomatic “breads,” while other translations ask about loaves eaten over a lifetime.
