All Might

It's fine now. Why? Because I am here!

— My Hero Academia  ·  2016

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

The line packs All Might's whole job into a sentence: he does not just rescue people, he reassures them. The cheerful boast is part of the work, telling a frightened crowd that the danger is already over. It is the first line many fans quote, and it gains weight on rewatch once you know how much it costs him to keep saying it.

All Might's catchphrase arrives in the very first episode. Young Izuku Midoriya, a boy born without a Quirk, is grabbed in an underpass by a sludge villain that tries to take over his body, until the Symbol of Peace bursts out of a manhole and blasts the villain apart with a single punch. It is how All Might greets every rescue: the danger is over because he has arrived. In Japanese it is "Watashi ga kita!", "I have come!"; the Funimation dub renders it "It's fine now. Why? Because I am here!"
