Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Number Two's daring is a scam, since he is reading the cards through his eye patch, and Austin's copy of the boast has none of the gadgetry behind it. The echo, 'I also like to live dangerously', turned the exchange into a template for matching someone's swagger without their luck. It is still quoted before a bad bet and by anyone caught bluffing.

Spoilers for Austin Powers: International Man of MysteryShow the scene
In the Las Vegas casino, Number Two sits at a blackjack table with 17 and secretly scans the next card with his X-ray eye patch. He asks the dealer to hit, says he likes to live dangerously, and the dealer turns up a 4 for 21. Austin, who has just joined the table and holds a 5, is advised by the dealer to hit and answers 'I also like to live dangerously.' He stays, the dealer shows 20, and Austin concedes that cards are not his bag. The fan wiki says the eye patch is inspired by Emilio Largo in Thunderball.
