Hulk

Puny god.

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

Two words of pure comeuppance. Loki has spent the film as the smoothest talker in the room, and the Hulk, who barely speaks, answers a whole speech with a beating and a verdict. It is the biggest laugh in the movie, a reaction GIF for anyone who has watched a boaster get flattened, and the Hulk's single most quoted moment.

Spoilers for Marvel's The AvengersShow the scene

The climax of Marvel's The Avengers (2012), high in Stark Tower during the Battle of New York. Loki, cornered with the portal open over Manhattan, has the whole team in front of him and starts a speech about being a god and refusing to be bullied by dull creatures. He never finishes it. The Hulk grabs him and slams him into the floor five times like a rag doll, leaves him in the crater and stomps off with the line. Loki, groaning, asks for that drink now. Mark Ruffalo spoke the Hulk's only line alone; Lou Ferrigno's voice was blended into his screams only.
