Walt

Stay out of my territory.

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

It marks the moment Walt stops being an accidental cook and starts thinking like a kingpin: a mild chemistry teacher staring a bigger man out of his own patch. The flat, quiet delivery is what sells it, and it is one of the early signs of the Heisenberg persona. Fans quote it as a territorial warning, often followed by the later and louder claim to be the one who knocks.

The line comes from the second-season episode "Over" (2009, written by Moira Walley-Beckett). Walt is in a hardware store when he notices a nervous man loading up on acetone, lye and other tell-tale meth ingredients. He corrects the man's mistakes, then walks out to the car park and sees the man and his burly partner using an RV. Staring down the bigger one, Walt tells them to stay out of his territory, and they drive off while he watches, grimly satisfied.
