Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

Jesse's whoop is a failed student cheering his old chemistry teacher, and for once the chemistry delivers. It shows the partnership at its warmest and funniest, before the show turns dark. Fans still shout it for anything geeky that works, and "Yeah, science!" became shorthand for the series' love of the lab.

Spoilers for Breaking BadShow the scene

In "A No-Rough-Stuff-Type Deal", the season 1 finale of Breaking Bad (March 9, 2008), Walt and Jesse owe the dealer Tuco two more pounds of meth, and Jesse has just scoffed that nobody can get that much pseudoephedrine. Walt answers with a different route: phenylacetone cooked in a tube furnace, then reductive amination, no pseudo needed, four pounds in all. Jesse, realising his partner really does have a plan, whoops this line.
