Hey! What kind of party is this? There's no booze and only one hooker.

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

It is Bender in miniature: a party that would horrify most people disappoints him because it is short on vices, and the joke is the lopsided complaint (the ratio of hookers to booze). Fans use it as a deadpan review of any dull gathering, and the episode that follows turns the scene into a parody of drug stories, with Bender's addiction played for laughs.

Spoilers for FuturamaShow the scene

In "Hell Is Other Robots" (Futurama, season 1, May 1999), Bender follows his old acquaintance Fender backstage after a Beastie Boys' Heads concert. Fender opens a door onto three robots plugged into a machine that zaps them. Bender, unimpressed by what he finds, asks what kind of party this is, with no booze and only one hooker. Fender is not offended; he calls it "jacking on" and offers him the plug, and Bender, desperate to look cool, takes it. That first jolt starts his addiction to electricity.
