The joke is Bender reviewing hip-hop like a spec sheet: a machine passing judgement on a slang word it can only measure, not feel. It became a favourite reply for anyone being literal about something cool, and it sits next to Leela's 80 percent line as the show's parody of rap criticism at the turn of the millennium.

In "Hell Is Other Robots" (Futurama, season 1, May 1999), Bender, Fry and Leela are at a Beastie Boys' Heads concert in the future. The Beastie Boys, now heads in jars, are rapping, and Leela checks her wrist computer and notes that they land about 80 percent of their rhymes. Bender sums up the performance with this verdict, taking the slang for "ill" and holding it to a strict technical standard. Fry, standing apart from them, tells the pair to shut up because he is trying to look cool.
