Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The line is Eddie at his most ordinary and most helpless: a kid with a van, a guitar and a bad reputation shouting at a girl who cannot hear him. It is the season's mystery starting in a trailer, and fans remember it because a character they came to love first appears in the worst possible light.

In 'Chapter One: The Hellfire Club' (season 4, 2022), Eddie Munson, the Dungeon Master of Hawkins High's Hellfire Club, has taken cheerleader Chrissy Cunningham back to his trailer to sell her a drug. While he searches for it, Chrissy hears the distorted chimes of a grandfather clock and slips into a vision of her own home. Eddie returns to find her in a trance and tries to wake her by repeating her name. It is Vecna's first attack of the season.
