Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Played for a laugh at a basement game, the line is chilling on rewatch: a boy shrugs off a bad dice roll just before something takes him on the road home. The words come back in season 1's finale, when a rescued Will says them for real. Fans use it as a joke when the dice fail and as a quiet reference to where Stranger Things began.

Spoilers for Stranger ThingsShow the scene
In 'Chapter One: The Vanishing of Will Byers' (season 1, 2016), the series opens on 6 November 1983 with a marathon game of Dungeons & Dragons in the Wheelers' basement. When the session breaks up, Will, who has been playing, has failed a roll of seven against the Demogorgon, the monster in the campaign. He says this as the boys part, and 'See you tomorrow' follows. On his bike ride home, Will sees something terrifying, and he is gone by morning.
