She's our friend and she's crazy.
— Stranger Things ‧ 2016
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
It is Dustin at his proudest: a kid in tears a moment before, now shouting at his tormentors from behind a friend with superpowers. The 'friend' and the 'crazy' are both meant, and that is the joke. It is a go-to quote for fans reaching for the team-at-its-best moment of season 1, and the first time Dustin treats Eleven as one of the Party.

Spoilers for Stranger ThingsShow the scene
In 'Chapter Six: The Monster' (season 1, 2016), Mike and Dustin are hunting for Eleven in the woods when the bullies Troy and James chase them to the cliff edge at Sattler Quarry. Troy orders Mike to jump or he will cut out Dustin's teeth. Mike jumps, but Eleven catches him in mid-air with her powers, lifts him back to safety and breaks Troy's arm with her mind. Troy and James flee, and Dustin shouts this after them, then adds that she will kill them if they come back.
