Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Homer's grudging admiration for a man he usually resents is the joke: Flanders is smug, wholesome and, for once, unfairly well-built. The line escaped the show as an internet-era meme, a go-to caption for any sudden, reluctant, slightly absurd appreciation of someone you thought you had worked out.

Spoilers for The SimpsonsShow the scene
From "Little Big Mom", episode ten of The Simpsons' eleventh season, the first episode broadcast in 2000. The family has gone on a ski trip, and on the slopes Homer is spooked by a skier in a skin-tight suit before realising it is Ned Flanders, who announces that it feels like wearing nothing at all. A stunned, half-hypnotised Homer mutters his verdict about his neighbour. Soon after, a falling clock breaks Marge's leg at the lodge, and Lisa takes over running the house.
