Who throws a shoe? Honestly!
Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
Austin is offended by the manners, not the pain: a man has been hit on the head by an assassin and what really bothers him is the breach of etiquette. That prissy 'Honestly!' sits right on top of a Bond-style villain stunt, and it became the all-purpose reply to any petty, undignified attack. The shoe is the film's cheerful pun on Oddjob's deadly hat.

Spoilers for Austin Powers: International Man of MysteryShow the scene
The film ends on the honeymoon of Austin and Vanessa, three months after the lair blew up. As they head for the terrace to look at the stars, a warning is shouted and Random Task, Dr. Evil's silent assassin, hurls his shoe, which clips Austin on the head. Random Task is the film's parody of Oddjob in Goldfinger, who threw a steel-brimmed bowler hat; this one throws a shoe. Austin, nursing the lump, protests at the shoe. Austin and Vanessa overpower the assassin with a comic pump gag and a champagne bottle, then step out on the terrace and spot Dr. Evil's cryo-chamber among the stars.
