A grand Ministry corridor with a Union Jack on the wall: a huge Scottish guard in a red tunic, kilt and bearskin cap, a picnic hamper at his feet, faces down the hall past a stiff officer.

Fat Bastard

I ate a baby! Oh, aye, baby. The other other white meat.

— Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me ‧ 1999

Behind the line

What it means

Our interpretation.

The joke works because Fat Bastard says it with the pride of a gourmet. He is the film's gross-out villain, and a line that borrows a pork slogan for cannibalism is the sharpest single gag he gets. People quote it as a pun on any 'other white meat' slogan.

Spoilers for Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged MeShow the scene

In The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999), Fat Bastard is on guard at the Ministry of Defence in 1969 when an English colonel tells him to lose some weight. He answers with a speech that ends on a confession: he ate a baby, calling it the other other white meat, a riff on the pork industry slogan, and tops it with a twist on the beef industry's: baby, it's what's for dinner. Fat Bastard has by then taken Austin's mojo, and the next scene shows Austin discovering it is gone.
