Burn rubber does not mean warp speed!

Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
The speaker distinguishes a call to drive fast from travelling at the fantastic speed suggested by “warp speed.” The exaggerated comparison makes the response sound alarmed or exasperated. It plays on two expressions for speed to suggest that someone has taken the first much too far.
