Behind the line
What it means
Our interpretation.
It is Dougal's vague weather report in a sitcom that gets stranger than the weather, and the calm of it is the joke. Fans say it as an all-purpose deadpan understatement when something odd is happening just outside the window.

It is the first line of "The Passion of St Tibulus" (series 1, 1995). Ted, Dougal and their Cuban guest, Father Hernandez, are deep in a very long game of Cluedo in the parochial house when the sound of a helicopter and a crash comes from outside. Dougal offers his forecast, and Ted only tells him it is his go. The conversation drifts to Hernandez's homesickness for Cuba before the episode turns to the banned film and the protest.
